Leela Beach

The Leela Beach is one of the smaller beaches on the island, located beside the popular and densely populated Haad Rin. Despite of being rather minuscule, this beach has a couple of upsides making it extremely attractive. On one hand, its proximity to Haad Rin enables its inhabitants to reach all the facilities by foot usually in 10 minutes. On the other hand it’s tranquility and serenity, where one can enjoy solid nap even during the notoriously noisy Full Moon Party.

Some of my friends have told me, there is also a slight downside to the beach: the sand on Leela Beach is rather muddy. To be honest, the difference between a “high standard” and a “low standard” sand always seems to boggle me, but usually Koh Phangan is full of wise sand experts, who migrate from one beach to another while looking for that Perfect Sand. The rumor says, the best sand can be found at Bottle Beach. As for sand ignoramus like yours truly, the Leela Beach is just ideal, especially thanks to the monumental Cocohut resort, which is located there. During our stay in Cocohut, we visited the lively Haad Rin Nok three times a day, and still could enjoy the illusion of remote beach as we got back to our resort.
